Motherboards
My HTPC's motherboard makes too much noise...
I know its the motherboard since I unpluged the CPU fan; stoped the PSU's fan and the VGA's fan, put my head within the case and the noise was coming from the motherboard itself; I thought it was the PSU the whole time... I was thinking of putting sound absorbing matting in there, feel free to coment about any experiance with it... If anyone knows of a really quiet motherboard tell me... currently its a intel MB socket 370 micro/miniATX form factor. (They dont make Water Blocks for this socket why cant it be silent like my reciver

have you got availability of a front and back fan in your base unit? sure it's a bit louder, but it nullifies the sound of the CDS and CPU processing... If not, could the Processing fan be faulty?

Well when I had the PC on it was in that one type of mode; you shut it off but "You can safely push the power button to turn it off" message is up.
I think I'v found an alternative; I was shy'n away from ITX form factors for a long time; till this site mentioned "PCI riser cards" so I googled this term and now im going to for ITX system. basicly the reason was the Sound card had to go straight up (I wanted a slim case if i used ITX) and slim case's well cant prodive room for a fullblown(big) pci card; but if its horizontal it'll fit! hurray life isnt so crappy after all. |

well, alternatively, buy a big tower and fit in your micro ATX motherboard. That's possibly why it never crashes with my Custom AMD build xD

Get some sound reduction in it, an insulator. If its your northbridge fan, that aint good

Naw; theres only 1 CPU fan; 1 VGA fan 1 PSU fan. The board itself humms its pretty old; from '99; im going to go smaller than a Mini-ATX; to a Mini-ITX
Nano-ITX use's a mini-pci slot... (card wouldnt fit) ATX : 304.8mm x 243.84mm Mini-ATX : 284.48mm x 208.28mm Mini-ITX : 170mm x 170mm Nano-ITX : 120mm x 120mm http://www.aone.zen.co.uk/imagesprod...esp5000via.jpg thats a pic of what ill get next most likly; no fans what so ever (12cm x 12cm) |
